As the location of Yongsan Lotte Castle Center Foret faces Han River to the south and Mt. Namsan to the north of Seoul, it is considered to possess propitious geomancy (Feng-Shui). It is also located in an important traffic hub connecting the center of Seoul. Hyochang-dong is the place where Hyochangwon, the royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty, was located. In the past, Hyochangwon was said to have beautiful scenery because of its dense forest. Taking the characteristics of this former royal tomb site, the external design was proposed with the concept, ‘The space to enjoy the dignity of the emperor - the place where the value of life is complete.’
The interior of the apartment complex with floor difference was conceptualized by considering the space composition of the royal palace. Upon entering the main gate, which is reminiscent of the Korean royal palace, it is possible to experience the daily life in the palace through the space for community (banquet), space for composure (royal residence), and the beautiful four seasons garden(royal secret garden). |
