It is a multi-functional couch, designed with both able bodied and wheelchair users in mind. It features a section which comprises 2/3rds of the couch with 2 cushions, located on the seat and backrest. The remaining 1/3rd section has only one cushion, on a hinge which can be folded down and used as a seat, or folded up like a backrest. In the upright position, it creates an opening with space for a wheelchair. This allows disabled family members to be on the same sofa with family while talking or enjoying TV, without having to get out of their chair and move to the couch. It can also decrease the unnecessary crowdedness caused by wheelchairs in hospitals and public places. |
